Thanks to "Young Gun" John Austin for the logo deZign
Our Young Guns Team Up
John Austin and Lance Oujesky had a chance to work together at Houston Motorsports Park on Saturday night, June 18, 2005.
[Lance] "Going to Houston was a lot of fun. I love flying!! It was a unique experience to flag with John. We make a good pair. We just have very different flag styles. I had to be careful not to get hit by John when he would bring the flag over his head. I like his small flags (Dynamic DeZigns' 20x25"), but I will never use such a small size. If I ever do, it will be for a Pat Vidan, Bill VanDerwater look with a long dowel. I do like how the hanging adapter worked on the flagstand at Houston. It saved us space in that small flagstand.
[NOTE: Hanging adapters are no longer available.]
Going to Houston has brought me up to the next step in my dream to be the Indy 500 chief starter. And, of course, I'll always use Dynamics!!!"
[John] "Lance and I had a great time last night out at the track. We split the schedule up pretty good and did a good job of keeping our noses clean. Lance is a great starter who will over time, I think, get better and better. He knows his stuff and plans his every move. He's got a great feel for things. He makes a great backup. He could feel when I was about ready for the layover, er, move over flag. I told him, "If we ever teamed up in NASCAR or IRL, we'd make a pretty dangerous team!" "
- Mike Atwell (11 years old), Painesville, OH
- John Austin (18 years old), Houston, TX
"Like most 'young guns' I started off flagging anything I could in front of my TV. I've had my Dynamic DeZigns flags since I was 15. Recently a local asphalt track here in Houston was brought to my attention. I contacted the track and sure enough they were looking for a flagman. So a few nights ago I made my debut at the ripe age of 17. Flagging qualifying, heats, and mains for Banderelos, Late Models, Allison Legacy, and Legends, I was on the flag stand from 4:30 to 10:00 and I never got tired! As the wind blew harder, my flags got lighter. I thought I'd never get the chance to land a starter's job and now I've been asked to come back for the next oval event. I've had great support over the years from my parents and several of the NASCAR guys. If you put your mind to it, you can do it. Thank you Dynamic DeZigns for a great product that I plan on using for many years to come.

"Now that I'm 18 life has changed at the racetrack. Justin Galle has taken over my job! He's now the starter at Houston Motorsports park. I am still the Chief Starter, as I will handle all touring series needs and bigger events. I have been promoted to Assistant Race Director and handle all RACEceiver communications for our Legends/Bandeleros, and in additon to calling shots, I also communicate with the spotters for the other classes. It's been a fun new experience. I must say it is quite weird not being in the flagstand AT ALL during raceday, but having a golf cart is a major perk."

"You can now list me as a touring series customer. I have been named the Chief Starter for all three USRA Touring classes: super late models, modifieds, and race trucks! I am super excited. This is a great opportunity and puts me at Texas Motor Speedway on June 4 in conjunction with IRL and the Craftsman Trucks."
- Ryan Barnett, Tucson, AZ
"I am 11 years old and started waving when I was 6. I have loved your flags and already have recommended them to many people. I have also told Taylor Colvin who is also a young gun. It is perfect for our Dodge Weekly Racing searies and USAR,USAC, Nextel Cup, etc. Tucson Raceway Park is a track we go every Saturday. Your service has been very helpful and fast and reliable shipping. I think you have every racing flag in the dictionary."

"Last week I was at the Daytona 500 and the Busch Take 5 race with my set of Dynamic DeZigns flags. When I went to the infield, I spoke with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He asked, "Do you know who was waving the flags in pit lane?" and I said ME. He's like cool. Thanks a lot Dyndez."
(12/05)
"Here are some pictures of me using two DynDez checkered flags as the head starter at Tucson kart Club. Soon I will also be the assistant starter at Tuscon Raceway Park. Thank you for the great opportunity to use your flags. I tried some other but they aren't the same. I can't wait to see some new products."
- Zachary Beard, Atwater, CA
"I'm twelve years old and my mom recently ordered a set of flags. I ordered a basic oval flag set and I also bought an extra checkered flag, a moveover flag with orange stripe, a restart flag, an oil flag, and a meatball black flag. I opened them on my birthday and I was astonished on how high quality they were!! I love the new velcro design that you guys made up! My father races a modified at a dirt track in Merced and now I know the flagman and most of the staff. So, I get to wave the flags for the high school series. So, thanks for all of the flags and I hope I could be a good flagman when I grow up."

"This is what a reporter had to say about my duties. This is only one of many good things that I have heard from people at the races. I hope that this is what drivers will think when I get a job next year. I hope to be respected and befriended by many race fans to come. Thank you for your flags, bags, and stand, as I know that I wouldn't look as good without YOUR products."
'During racing breaks Sagmiller's crew continued to water and groom the track as announcer Dave Munoz entertained the fans along with fourteen year old Zachary Beard. This young sensational assistant flagman does it with such flair he makes flagging an art form.' Debbie Shipherd, CSRA Spec Sprints
- Taylor Colvin, Tucson, AZ
"Myself and Ryan Barnett are flagkids at Tucson Raceway Park. We are just like customer Karen Oujesky's son. We both love your product -- Ryan is who I heard about DynDez from. The official TRP starter is David McCrory. Many of the fans at the track also think we are great. Hopefully I will become a starter next year. IF so, I will take the business cards and travel around Arizona telling other starters about DynDez."

"Just an update. I got a call today from the track owner and I've got the job as flagman."

"Well my first season as the flagman with Tucson Raceway Park is over. It was a great season."

"Got the flag Sat. Once again Thank You and hope to do more business with you. Got it just in time for the races. Outstanding quality."
- Sean Dunbar, Gansevoort, NY
Sean is 11 years old (Birthdate - 10/7) He and his father attend races at Albany-Saratoga Speedway where he loves to watch "Flagman Bob". He usually takes his checkered flag to practice his moves. Sean has a tree house with a balcony that he leans over to wave flags and is teaching an 8 year old friend, Ryan, to flag.
- Justin Galle, Houston, TX
"I'm 14 years old and found out about racing about five years ago. I finally got my first flag set from (another company) for Christmas a year ago. I flagged NASCAR, IRL, and almost any race on TV. Then about three months ago I found out about your website, and since my original set of flags came with a moveover flag with an orange stripe and most racing series use a yellow stripe, I decided to try your site out. The flags are awesome. I also ordered a disqualification flag later. My favorite flagmen combo are your customers, Bryan Howard and Paul Blevin. Personally, I think flagmen are very under rated and need more respect. The media needs to show the flagmen on TV more and explain to new fans what the flags mean. I hope to get your Starter Set as soon as possible."
[7/05]
"Let me just say, I've been a customer for a little over a year now and you have always delivered the best product and you have never been wrong about the shipping times. Keep on providing so us flagmen can do what we do best!"

- Brandon Haley, Kentucky
"I have always enjoyed racing of all types. My favorite would probably be dirt track since I work at a dirt track. It all started in 1998 after I got back from the 1998 Legends National Event that was held at Lowe's Motor Speedway. I was extremely impressed by Roger Slack (Humpy Wheeler's right hand man) who now runs the dirt track at Lowes. He flagged to help out and put on a show for the fans. Ever since then I wanted to flag. Well, a couple of months later my father called me and asked me if I wanted to take over the flagman position at the dirt track my cousin owned in Willard, KY. Of course I couldn't believe what my father had asked me to do. I started in April of '99 at the age of 14. At this time I thought I was the youngest flagman around. I didn't know how the drivers would react with me only being 14 years old. Now I am almost 21. Many seasons and races later, I have come to gain much respect from the drivers that have raced at my track. I have flagged for many of the big names in Eastern Kentucky. The biggest would be Jackie Boggs and Eddie Carrier, Jr. We have had many great races at Willard Speedway and hopefully many more to come that I can be a part of. I have been using my Dynamic DeZigns flags since I started and would not trade them for any other set, as I have helped flag at other tracks and their flags just didn't compare to mine. I wish all of the other young flagmen good luck in their jobs and to remember, even though it is a job it is something that I have loved doing for the past seven years."
- Terry Mattox (13 years old), Broken Arrow, OK
(06/08) I started flagging at 3 years old.
My dad raced Sprint Cars here in Oklahoma and I went
every weekend to the races with my flags in the stands
waving away.
I got a summer job last year and I loved it.
I'm getting a set of flags from you for the first time
and hope they are the best.
(After receiving his flags) We have a small track in our
backyard and we love your flags. We use them every day.
UR THE BEST!!!
- Josef Miele (13 years old), Upstate New York
I got my Dynamic DeZigns flags back at the end of October 2008. I got the 25x30" flags. As of right now, I wave the flags for Youtube and at home. I plan on bringing them to the races with me in '09. I am on the list at a local short track to be flagman when the current one is done.
- Jacob Miller, #11X (10 years old), Chico, CA
- David Mowry (11 years old), Tucson, AZ
David is a young gun at Tuscon Raceway Park like Ryan and Taylor. He has his own set of flags and is out there every race. He also races at Tucson Kart Club.
- Seth Morten, Manteca, CA
- Lance Oujesky Bedford, TX
See Karen Oujesky comments on our customer quote page.
Lance "works" IRL races under Bryan and Paul at Texas Motor Speedway. In May 2004, he attended the Indy 500. Lance has gotten the royal treatment at both racetracks, dresses like the IRL officials, and is called 'Starter Three'.
(10/04) "I have great news! Brad Gillie, the general manager of the Lone Star Legends at Texas Motor Speedway, e-mailed me and offered me the job of being the starter of the Legends races at TMS. He wants me to show up next weekend to drive one of them during a driving school. He wants me to get the feeling of what the drivers are experiencing. I can't wait!"
(11/04) "Well I got hired! Today was my first day really. I got to do the 60 lap driving school at the Lil' Texas Motor Speedway in a Legends car. The track is fifth mile concrete. I did a 17.8 second lap. The track record is about 13.2. After the driving school, I got to flag the other driving school that was later in the day. I will be working the winter series for the Legends and the summer series as well."
(3/06)
"I had a lot of fun this weekend at the TMS dirt track. David Corbello, the SUPR starter, let me flag about five races each night. I did pretty good. I was a little nervous because they weren't Legends cars. The modifieds are much bigger and have much more horsepower. Ken Schrader finished second in the 40 lap feature race. He made it through a 'last chance' race and had to start towards the rear of the field."
(01/08) [Now 19 years] "I am now a freshman at University of North Texas in Denton. It's about 20 miles north of Texas Motor Speedway. I am still flagging Legend races at TMS. I've been trying to take good care of my flags so they will last me longer."
- Chase Pruitt (14 years old), Midland, TX
- Michael Staggs (17 years old), New Castle, IN
(1/05) "Your flags are awesome. Thanks to Tom Hansing, I have received a set. I have known Tom for about four years now. When he started to use the flags, I asked him where he had bought them. He told me about the website you and your company. I told him just about a year ago that I was saving my money to buy a set of the flags. He said I would really like them. I have always stood behind the flagstand at the races and flagged with my own set of flags since I was real little. Tom gave me a set of your flags at Gas City Speedway during Border Wars. I will not use any other kind of flags; your flags are awesome!"
- Josh Turner (19 years old), Mt. Vernon, IL
(5/06) Josh starts karts at Junk Yard International Raceway in Coulterville, IL. He has at least one of every flag made by Dynamic DeZigns in the 25x30" size and is working on doing the same in the 20x25".
(1/07) Josh is now flagging for O'Reilly POWRI Midgets and Micros. He has filled out his set of 20x25s, acquired a set of 30s, and is working on a set of 25s.
- Emma Louise Hansing
